Policy makers to offer support

Teso top district policy makers and implementers recently resolved to support TERREWODE’s advocacy efforts to improve maternal health and obstetric fistula condition in particular through increase resource mobilization and allocation to the health sector. This was agreed upon in a two separate lobby workshops of technocrats and policy makers both as duty bearers, organized by TERREWODE to solicit their support and commitment for increased collaboration and resource mobilization and allocation at both Higher (District) and Lower (Sub-county) Local Government levels for improved maternal health in general and Obstetric Fistula in particular.

Considering that 2010-2011 Financial Year just ended in July, TERREWODE focus during these follow up lobby meeting was to remind the participants for their active involvement advocate for maternal health and to make a contribution through their voice and influential position for the cause basing on their experience and position in the Local Government development planning and budgeting process to stand on TERREWODE’s side in the for increased resources allocation for maternal health. Need to expand advocacy and dialogue beyond the meeting Need to clarify whether health centers has cost share but with care because it was scrapped (There is need for high level Advocacy) Need to rise the Local District Government Revenue Linking up local advocacy with national advocacy on resource allocation Linking up with UNFPA on obstetric fistula issue Need to integrate fistula women groups into NAADs Programme
